The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup With Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Astros securing the championship in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team reached their maiden Fall Classic after 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Behind three runs to one, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh frame, leading the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 win in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the upcoming championship.
"I'm just so happy for everyone here, our city, the nation," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."
The veteran has now slugged twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"It's hard to imagine another person on planet Earth that I'd choose in that spot besides Springer with his October magic," said manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, who had led the early in the series, remain the sole team that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's going to sting" following his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their performance this season.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he added.
Toronto's team claimed the title on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
