Spurs Manager Thomas Frank Calls Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Genuine Fans'
The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Increase Pressure on Frank
Spurs fans who booed goalkeeper Vicario were told later "those individuals can't be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Frank.
Tottenham let in a pair of scores in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th Premier League at home loss of the year.
But the primary talking point was the visitors' second goal when Vicario gave away possession well beyond his box.
He ventured out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball near the sideline.
However, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italy international spun and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by King.
King passed the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the goal from the sideline recorded at 36.6 metres.
Moments later when the ball came to Vicario again, some Tottenham supporters booed him.
Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.
A particular of those booing sessions really irritated Frank.
"I heard a few of our supporters apparently jeered the incident and booed after, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented about the fans' response to his goalkeeper.
"Those individuals cannot be true Spurs fans that act that way. Alright jeering following the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are behind one another going forward."
Tete had handed the visitors a fourth-minute lead prior to Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in an improved second period showing.
Former top-flight goalkeeper Hart stated that the second score was "completely preventable".
"I do appreciate the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the part Vicario is playing. He's a excellent squad member, he is a real leader in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your actions.
"The keeper was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the decisive goal."
'It's Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'
Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario Following the Game
Italy national team Vicario is in his 3rd season with Spurs.
The 29-year-old said after the match that he had to take the feedback.
"The second score was a error of mine, I accept responsibility for it," he said.
"The intent was to clear the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a poor way. That made an even bigger challenge to climb."
He stated receiving jeers "is part of football".
"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "We cannot be influenced by the situation in the stands. The fans have the right to do what they think.
"It's on us to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is missing in calmness and calmness to reverse outcomes. This match is a bad loss and it's tough to take."
'I Was Surprised No One Went Back to the Goal Line'
Despite the keeper's mistake, it was far from an easy score for Harry Wilson to convert.
Actually it was the next longest-range top division score of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which interestingly too occurred on the same day.
The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an open goal to aim for.
Ten seconds passed between Vicario exiting of his box and Wilson shooting – which was 5 seconds following the kick.
"It seemed to me like the keeper was out of the area for a long time," he remarked.
"It amazed me none of the back four went back to the goal line. When none of them defended the goal, my interest sparked a bit.
"Udogie slipped as well, which allowed me a bit of extra time. Then it was all about trying to make the correct connection and place it on target. I felt a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was heading in."
'When You're in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Go Against You'
Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - the Manager
Although Vicario's error led headlines, this was an all-round poor day for Tottenham to extend their home ground struggles.
This was their tenth at home defeat of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint club record matching nineteen ninety-four and 2003.
The side still have home games against the manager's former club the Bees and title holders Liverpool to come before the end of the season.
Only one of those victories have come since the manager replaced his predecessor in the summer.
"When you're down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated the boss.
"When you're in a bad spell, everything appears to go against you as well – the opening was a deflected shot, the second is a mistake from the keeper.
"The outcome puts us in a place where we have lost another game. Every game has a single story, this game we lost in the early stages.
"We simply need to keep working. The later period was much better and with luck something we can use to develop."
Spurs have lost four consecutive home London derbies for the initial time in the Premier League.
Furthermore they are averaging 9.5 attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the division – their lowest averages on file in a single season (since at least 2003-04).
Former Fulham midfielder Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.
"He's got take the stick," the pundit said. "He has accepted a high profile job at a major team with enormous expectation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.
"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
