Homages Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the duo.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt able to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began passing more hours together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, remarking that he doesn't recollect "any day without laughter".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled to block the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate put a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the killings, public personalities offered different responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing divisive statements that were broadly criticized by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan described the statements as "disturbing" and implied they demonstrated a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by remarking that an aide should have acted when the choice to comment on the tragedy was made.
