Aircraft Transporting US Defense Secretary Forced to Land in UK Because of Fracture in Cockpit Window
A jet ferrying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was forced to make an unscheduled landing in the UK on Wednesday due to a fissure was identified in the plane's windshield, per an official announcement which verified that Hegseth was safe.
"The jet touched down in accordance with established safety measures and all individuals on the flight, such as Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a press officer said in a online announcement.
He was traveling back from a brief trip to Brussels during the flight.
This incident does not mark the first occasion that a US military aircraft carrying a high-ranking official has experienced technical problems.
Months ago, a US Air Force plane transporting Marco Rubio to Munich was forced to turn back to Washington after experiencing a mechanical fault.
